| Most recent Pizza Day Run (top left): For
some reason my ignition system was causing the DPR dyno to "abort" the dyno run
after the first warm up run at 5200 rpms. I ran 8 or 9 dyno runs there and the same
thing happened every time. DPR reloaded the DynoJet software but no change. DPR
concluded that my Nology ignition system was the cause. Don't ask me! I took
the car to the street to some demo rides for other people that attended the Pizza Day
event and the car pulled with no problems. In addition, the car pulled on the dyno with no
problems. Must be something with the ignition pickup on their dyno. I've
"heard" that some ignition pickups are too sensitive.
Oh well. Until next time on a different dyno.
Anyway.... You can see from the dyno run that the car was making serious power.
.....
Notes on the 4th. dyno run (2nd. down on left):
This run was at 20 psi boost. I've run higher (23 psi) and the HP went
much higher...but I choose to submit this dyno run because this is the realistic limit
that most of us will run. The car ran solid on the dyno with no detonation. The
boost was a little hard to control because I messed with the wastegate spring and hadn't
"dialed" it in yet.
The only difference between dyno 3 and dyno 4 (the most
recent) is:
Huntley Racing Cat bypass pipe (I had no cat before), 2
psi more boost, and no glass pack and Huntley Racing chips in place of the old Autothority
K27 chips (these were a joke! @$595).The net result: +43HP & +13TQ to the wheels!!!
The Huntley Chips really made the car come alive. I recommend these big
time!
I was really amazed. I think I could do 350HP to the wheels at 23 psi with
no problems. When driving the car, it wants to really run at 23 psi. I drove
home to LA from San Diego today and the car pulls much harder at 23 psi that it does at
20.
The next steps...
Bored out throttle body
Max ported intake
Electronic Boost controller to smooth out the peaks and
valleys!
A little FYI.... GET A CAT
BYPASS PIPE. You'll be amazed at the difference!!! |
